The four leading UK organisations are calling on the Department of Health to end the confusion surrounding fully funded NHS care, highlighted in the BBC's Panorama report, ‘The NHS National Homes Swindle’. The programme, which was broadcast on 5 March 2006, highlighted the grim reality that thousands of frail, elderly people are being forced to pay for care that should be provided free by the NHS and as a result many have to sell their homes to pay for their primary health needs!

Despite numerous criticisms from the Health Select Committee the system remains unfair and confusing. Many people with serious health conditions do not realise they may be eligible for fu! lly funded NHS care and others fall prey to the ‘court criticised’ fatally flawed assessment procedure thus making eligibility a post-code lottery.

Help us raise public awareness so that the relatives and families don’t have to keep fighting and stressing over ‘the bureaucracy’ and can concentrate all their efforts on looking after their loved ones, after all - your loved one’s have paid into the system and have a right to expect their primary health needs to be fully addressed by OUR NHS!
